Trailer -Short version-

Those who leave are beautiful.
those who remains are sorrowful.

The story left behind by Yoichi Miyase, an unsuccessful writer, is like a posthumous letter—a novel depicting the continuation of the well-known Japanese tale “The Crane Wife.”
flew away into the distant sky. But what if she were to return?
However, Miyase’s story was rejected by a literary magazine and left unfinished.

The narrative unfolds between two worlds:
The real world, shaped by Koto, her third-grade son Haruto, Soma, and Haruto’s tutor Shingo Yuuki.
The fictional continuation of “The Crane Wife.”
These two worlds alternate, intertwining as the story progresses.
The inspiration for this work came from Osamu Kitayama.

The central theme is “Survival”— “Survive, no matter what happens."

東京舞台芸術祭2025 Open Call Program 補助対象事業

The ending of “The Crane Wife”, well known folktale to Japanese people, is both heartbreaking and cool.
The departing crane is overwhelmingly beautiful. But those who remains are sorrowful.
What if the departed crane returns?
And what if she had started a life with her husband in the village, furthermore, having child?
What kind of life would that have been?
Was it truly for the best that she didn't depart coolly, but returned?
This story begins with a novel, like a suicide note, left behind by Miyase Yoichi, an unsuccessful writer. It was the story of “The Crane That Returned.”
However, the publisher refused to publish it in a literary magazine, leaving it unfinished. Soma Kazuhiko, Miyase's former editor, pressured Miyase's wife, Shinokawa Koto—a best-selling author unlike Miyase—to continue writing his novel. He reasoned that if she took over and completed her husband's work, it would undoubtedly become a sensation. Though hesitant, Koto began writing the world of “The Crane Wife.”
In the world of “The Crane Wife”’s continuation, Koto herself appears as the Crane Wife.
Her husband, of course, is the deceased Miyase.

The story unfolds, shifting back and forth between real world and the world of “The Crane Wife”.
The real world is shaped by Koto, her third-grade son Haruto, Soma, and Haruto’s tutor Shingo Yuuki.
In the world of “The Crane Wife,” the couple faces various trials.

We've gathered a truly captivating cast: KOSEKI Yuta plays the husband role, USUDA Asami plays the wife role, OTA Motohiro as the editor and Shintaro Anzai as the turtor.

Please look forward to it.
The theme is “Survival.”
No matter the situation, no matter how painful, no matter how difficult—“Survive”
